I finally understand my morning numbers

I had been waking up to 142 every single day no matter what I ate the night before. My endocrinologist kept blaming dinner. After watching this all the way through, I realized the dawn phenomenon was exactly what was happening to me. I am sleeping through the night again and woke up to 109 this morning.

Twelve years of metformin and nobody told me this

My doctor put me on metformin in 2014 and just kept adding to it. The fatigue was the worst part. I retired last year and watched the whole video on my back porch with my wife. The part about cortisol around 3 a.m. explained why I was always waking up around that time. We both watched it twice.

My daughter sent me this video

I am 64 and was told three years ago I was pre-diabetic. My A1C went from 5.9 to 6.4 to 6.8 even though I cut sugar out of my coffee and started walking every morning. My daughter found this presentation and made me watch it. The bit about the body reprogramming itself to think high sugar is normal made me cry a little. I wish my doctor had explained it like this.

The part about the Japanese doctor stopped me cold

I am a retired engineer and I do not fall for medical videos easily. But the research from the University of Ulster and Harvard Medical School checked out when I looked them up. The mechanism around the fat cells and that signal molecule actually makes sense biologically. Glad I watched the full thing instead of skipping ahead.

I am a nurse and this lined up with what I see in patients

I have worked in primary care for 22 years. We do not have time in a 15-minute visit to explain any of this to patients and most of them leave more confused than when they came in. Watched this on my lunch break and forwarded it to three friends. The dawn phenomenon part is exactly what I see in our morning fasting labs.

Wish I had seen this five years ago

My wife passed in 2022 from complications. I was diagnosed last spring and was scared to death of going down the same road. My grandson set up this video for me on his iPad. I watched it twice in one sitting. For the first time since the diagnosis I do not feel like I am just waiting for the next bad number.
